Funga migrans nomadic mycelium lab is inviting you to a queer-ecofeminist reorientation through collaborating, thinking and sensing with mushrooms.
Together with ubiquitous, but eager species, like Australian ghost fungus, pink oyster, split gill and rhizophus oligosporus mold we will indulge in queer mycological practices as well as looking at the critical history of working with and seeing mushrooms. If you take part, you can learn easy mushroom culturing to apply in multiple directions, biofluorescent mycelium jewelry making, medicinal mushroom extracting and tempeh sculpturing. We will guide our practices with the ‘The Science Underground, Mycology as a Queer Discipline’ essay of Patricia Kaishian and Hasmik Djoulakian.
You will have the chance to acquire additional mycelium starter cultures and medicinal extracts in exchange for donation.
LOCATION + INFO:
18.05.24 // 11:00-14:00
Haus des Wandels, Hauptstr. 37, 15518 Steinhöfel
The event is free of charge.
Workshop language will be English, whispered translation into German is possible.

Funga migrans a nomadic mycelium-based laboratory that multiplies and celebrates co-creative, post-extractionist culturing practices in quest of how thinking with non-human creatures could transform human sensitivity while growing a practice-in-research network.
In practice it demonstrates a dit (do-it-together) culture lab incorporating all necessary tools, materials that enable mycelia to comfortably thrive and expand within and through the lab, as well as:
x it creates a cross-disciplinary playground myceliating communities, institutions and habitats
x it facilitates emerging exploration of joining researchers
x it organizes encounters, events and processes where research is happening and/or disseminating practically, poetically or materially with the presence of mycelia
x it publishes irregular ‘Lab Notes’ booklets in email and print, as well as present on suitable social media

Csilla Hódi has been working with mushrooms for 8 years, while she has been researching collaboration with mycelium in different contexts - social design of urban food-sovereignty networks, organization of community agriculture transition, experimentation with circular and accessible farming technologies, myceliating contemporary art exhibitions & festivals, offering non-formal education with civilians, regenerative agroecology research with independent researchers and civil organizations, as well as editing erotic mushroom calendars. Alongside the continuous cultivation, educational and conceptual practices Csilla has developed an embodied sensitivity to mycelium and performs a continuous care for these creatures. Working with mushrooms invigorates the creativity of Csilla on material, conceptual and curatorial levels and supports her professional development on financial level as well. Creating transformative situations and their interactive dramaturgies has been Csilla’s main focus through her various practices, so this migrating lab can synthesize her most alive engagements. Sharing the inspiration with broader circles and different communities allows for more diverse activities and incomes, hopefully a more possible sustenance for longer term.
